Our History

Electronic discharge machining had only been around for about two decades when Howard White and three of his sons, Mike, Sam, and Tim came together to start Star-One EDM, Inc.

In the small northern Ohio village of Wellington, Howard White recognized the individual talents in each of his boys and provided the guidance and support they needed to launch a successful EDM shop.

On May 1, 1989 in a 660 square foot building, Star-One EDM was officially established. The company started with one machine – a single wire EDM, three employees, a lot of drive, a pursuit of excellent machining, and a commitment to fantastic customer service.

From 1998, Co-founding brothers Sam, Mike and Tim White discuss the building plans with the contractor at the site of our Shiloh Avenue facility.

With an expanding customer base, Star One outgrew the original building by the mid-90s and moved to the current 6,500 square foot building. Currently, this facility is home to state-of-the-art EDM machines, a fully equipped tool room, and a growing number of employees.

The Whites sold Star One in 2019. However, their legacy of providing personal, dedicated, and unparalleled service to each and every customer remains.
