Small Hole EDM
Fast, accurate, economical, and repeatable, which provides value for our clients.
Small Hole EDM is the most accurate way to bore holes in any metal, regardless of how hard or soft it may be. Small Hole EDM uses an electrode with channels in it to pump a dielectric fluid at high pressure toward the workpiece. This electrode is positioned by very accurate CNC technology so that it approaches, but never touches, the workpiece. When it gets close enough, a sparks jump the gap between the electrode and metal to be bored, eroding the metal.
The high pressure fluid then washes the waste away. This process is fast, accurate, economical, and repeatable, which means it provides value for our clients. At Star One, our Small Hole EDM machine is capable of boring a 1/16” hole in a 2 ½” block of tool steel in less than two minutes.
